Parks & Recreation
Welcome to Spring & Summer!
This spring and summer edition of Destination Recreation welcomes you back outdoors! Last year, more than 6-million visitors experienced our outdoor community of 17 parks, over 48 miles of trails and 1,700 acres of land along shorelines, beautiful natural settings and historic, scenic and recreational sites. Let Parks & Recreation play a part in your plan this summer – participate in our programs, visit our parks and facilities, and take advantage of the many outlets created to educate, engage and connect our community. New offerings include pottery date nights and a variety of children’s arts classes, a new Easy Money management series, Family Health & Fitness Day, Grocery Store Guidance on how to shop for groceries and tips on making happy and healthy lunches for the kids! We’ve got over 60 summer camps to keep the kids entertained all summer long. Your returning favorite special events include Project 547: the Longest Day of Play, Family Fun Fest, Capital Color Ride, the Student Art Show & Exhibit and Drool in the Pool!
We’re Hiring too! Needed are lifeguards, Park Attendants, Recreation Leaders, Customer Service representatives, instructors and more. If providing outstanding customer service with passion is a position that you can fill, we want to meet you! Please apply online.
Please spend a few minutes with this edition of Destination Recreation and share it with your family and friends. This spring/summer edition details programs through August; look for the fall issue in September and the winter/spring edition in January. You can download the brochure or pick up a copy at the James City County Recreation Center, the Abram Frink Jr. Community Center, any Parks & Recreation public facility, the Satellite Services Office in Toano and at the James City County or Williamsburg libraries.
