Parks & Recreation

Welcome to Winter & Spring!

It’s a new year, and a great time to resolve to live healthier and happier. Let James City County Parks & Recreation be part of your plan – participate in our programs, visit our parks and facilities and take advantage of the many opportunities created to educate, engage and connect our community. During the height of the pandemic, so many of you sought the comfort and safety of our outdoors where our parks experienced attendance of over 4-million visits.

New programming this season includes enhanced art offerings - come get creative in new painting, pottery and sculpture classes and workshops! We’ve got over eight special events for you to experience our recreation center exercise and health and wellness options, outings for you and your furry friends, virtual runs and the Summer Camps Fair to get an early start on summer fun planning! We’ve got Spring Break programs too, visit us online for details.

The Winter/Spring issue of Destination Recreation features Veterans Park (home of Kidsburg) and details all the unique offerings now available at the park. There are so many new ways to play, please view the Parks Feature in this edition of the brochure.

Please spend a few minutes with this edition of Destination Recreation and share it with your family and friends. This winter/spring edition details programs through April*; look for the summer edition in May. You can download the brochure at or pick up a copy at the James City County Recreation Center, the Abram Frink Jr. Community Center, any Parks & Recreation public facility, the Satellite Services Office in Toano and at the James City County or Williamsburg libraries.

Thank you our citizens and patrons for your continued support, patience and your adoption of the “new” us as we continue to ensure compliance with the recommendations from the Governor, the Virginia Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
