About the Trail
The county is a partner of the Virginia Capital Trail, a regional 55-mile multi-use trail connecting all the state capitals of Virginia’s history:
- Jamestown
- Richmond
- Williamsburg
Construction
Segments of the trail, including 7.5 miles within James City County have been completed, and other sections are currently under construction.
Amenities
The trailhead in James City County is located near 2070 Jamestown Road and includes an electronic kiosk, benches and bike racks.
Access Points
Additional access points include Jamestown High School and Chickahominy Riverfront Park.
Dog Rules
The Virginia Capital Trail is a dog-friendly trail.
- Dogs must be under complete and immediate control of owners at all times and must be on a leash no longer than 8 feet.
- Owners are responsible for removing dog waste.
