July 12, 2019 - Daily Update

Good Morning. Building Safety & Permits has 80 inspections scheduled for today July 12, 2019.

Please note that Virginia has adopted the 2015 editions of the Building Codes as well as the 2014 National Electrical Code. Permit applications are now being reviewed under these new editions of the codes.

Contractors, please upload all required reports such as Blower Door, Chimney Certifications and Duct Blaster tests as well as Foundation Surveys and Flood Elevation Certificates to your PermitLink file. Please do not send them via email any longer. You must include the permit number and name the file appropriately i.e. Duct Blaster, Chimney Cert, Blower Door, etc.

All dwelling unit permits issued after Jan. 1, 2019 will require a “Sheathing” Inspection to be conducted after the exterior sheathing/plywood is installed and all fasteners are completely in place and spaced in accordance with the Virginia Residential Code. This inspection must be approved BEFORE concealing with house wrap, siding, brick, etc.
