Have you ever wanted to get more involved in your local government? Join us Wednesday, July 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the James City County Recreation Center, 5301 Longhill Road, for the next Neighborhood Forum. Chief Brad Rinehimer of the James City County Police Department will be the featured speaker.

Cooling Centers are Open for Use

High temperatures and humidity are expected in the James City County area this week. Need a place to cool off? Citizens and visitors can head to the James City County Recreation Center at 5301 Longhill Road, or the Human Services Center at 5249 Olde Towne Road. Both buildings are serving as the County's designated Cooling Centers, and will provide air conditioning and a place to sit down. Hours and more information.

Chickahominy Riverfront Park

Chickahominy Riverfront Park to Host Triathlon

The REV3 Triathlon may cause road delays on Route 5 near Chickahominy Riverfront Park (CRP) on Saturday, July 7 and Sunday, July 8. On Saturday, a sprint triathlon and kids' duathlon will occur between 5-11 a.m. and will impact Route 5 and CRP. On Sunday, Olympic and half triathlon events will occur between 5 a.m. and 1 p.m. Park patrons may be impacted. More information.

Did you know that July is Park and Recreation Month? Nationally recognized since 1985, Park and Recreation Month encourages everyone to reflect on the enormous value parks and recreation bring to your community. From protecting open space and natural resources, to helping fight obesity, to providing activities and resources for all walks of life, local parks have something for everyone. Make this the month you get out and play! A wide variety of activities and community events are scheduled in James City County this July. More information.
