Publix Announces First Store in Hampton Roads

James City County is pleased to announce that Publix Super Market plans to open at 4660 Monticello Avenue in the Monticello Marketplace. This will be the first Publix store in Hampton Roads. Publix has opened two stores in the Richmond region and has three more opening in the coming months. The James City County location was formerly a Martin’s Foods and closed on July 10, 2017. The store is approximately 69,000 square feet. An opening date is forthcoming. Continue reading

2018 ChefsGo 1.0 Program Now Accepting Applications

Applications are now being accepted for ChefsGO 1.0, a certificate program that includes 11 weeks of classroom and kitchen training taught by renowned local chefs, followed by four months of paid work experience in one of several participating restaurants. This is a unique opportunity for students interested in stepping into the restaurant, commercial and non-commercial food service industries. (Village Bank) held a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on Nov. 16 for their new location, 5372 Discovery Park Boulevard, Suite 101 in New Town Williamsburg (New Town). The JunipHER Project Receives $50,000 Growth Accelerator Fund Award

James City County is pleased to announce that The JunipHER Project has received a $50,000 Growth Fund Accelerator Fund award from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The JunipHER Project was one of 20 winners of the fourth annual Growth Fund Accelerator Fund competition. The JunipHER Project is an accelerator program by AccelerateHER™, a women's business development organization focused on providing tools, training and support for women who are running their own businesses. This is the second consecutive award that The JunipHER Project has received from the SBA Growth Fund Accelerator Fund competition. Continue reading
