New Event Venue Begins Construction

The Maine of Williamsburg (The Maine) has begun construction of a new wedding, event and retreat venue. The Maine will be 9,000 square feet of indoor space on a 20 acre parcel, which is part of a working a farm totaling over 100 acres in James City County. The Maine is located at 2580 John Tyler Highway. The Maine is scheduled to open in 2021 and is now accepting bookings. Continue reading

Business Submissions Needed for New Awareness Campaign

We are pleased to invite County-based businesses to be featured in an awareness campaign celebrating County businesses and resiliency. The Office of Economic Development knows that 2020 has been difficult and the County wants to support you. Throughout the end of the year, James City County will highlight local businesses that have submitted their information. Businesses are invited to submit their information including a picture through an online form. The deadline for submissions is Friday, Oct. 30.

Classic Consignments Williamsburg held a ribbon cutting and grand opening for its new space at 7405 Richmond Road, Suite A. Classic Consignments is a gift and consignment store selling gently used furniture and accessories. Classic Consignments is closed on Sundays. Continue reading

Branscome, Inc. Recognized for Exemplary Safety Record in 2019

Branscome, Inc., which is headquartered in James City County, was recognized for their exemplary safety record in 2019 by the Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy (DMME) and the Virginia Transportation and Construction Alliance (VTCA). DMME and VTCA award mines and miners annually for outstanding work in both areas. For 2019, DMME and VTCA recognized eight mines for their safety records. Continue reading
