Dear James City County Community members,
I hope this message finds you doing relatively well during these challenging times. In early 2020, we kicked off Community Conversations, a series of informal conversations with representatives from your local government. The coronavirus pandemic has changed just about everything, but I am happy to announce that we are planning to restart our Community Conversations series, beginning this month.
On Tuesday, Aug. 25 at 4 p.m., Supervisor Ruth Larson, representative for the Berkeley District, will host Community Conversations: Shaping Our Shores via Facebook Live. The event can also be viewed on JCC TV (Cox Cable Channel 48/1048) or on James City County’s YouTube channel.
This special session of Community Conversations will feature an overview of Shaping Our Shores, the master plan that will guide the development of three of the County’s waterfront facilities: Chickahominy Riverfront Park, Jamestown Beach Event Park, and the James City County Marina. It will also include a brief update on the County’s budget, followed by Q&A. You can submit questions via the James City County Government’s Facebook Live event or via email (Community.Meetings@jamescitycountyva.gov).
As a reminder, Community Conversations is a series of informal discussions between County staff and community members about local government issues. It is an opportunity to take a deep dive into topics of interest to the community, ask lots of questions and share your thoughts. All County residents are invited to participate.
Although things may seem far from normal these days, I am hopeful that this moment presents an opportunity for us to try some new and creative ideas for dialogue. As always, I welcome your suggestions for the event format and future topics of discussion, and I hope to see you soon!
