McClure-Kennedy receiving awards

Two County businesses received awards at CultureFix VA’s ChowderFest on Friday, Nov. 8. FoodaTude..Food with Attitude (FoodaTude) and the Williamsburg Winery both received awards for their chowder entries. Kennedy received the “Judge’s Choice” award and McClure received the “Best Local Flavor” award.

Chef Jim Kennedy of FoodaTude submitted a lobster-corn chowder and Chef David McClure of the Williamsburg Winery submitted a Virginia clam and Edwards Virginia Smokehouse chowder with a shishito pepper and green tomato chow chow.

“We are thrilled to have won the Judge’s Choice having poured our hearts into our FoodaTude chowder from roasting the lobsters in 12 gallons of cream to marrying the flavors of the corn and lobster, this chowder was a labor of love.” said Kennedy.

Kennedy is pleased to now be offering quarts of soup for sale from his commissary kitchen.

McClure’s chowder will be served as a special at The Gabriel Archer Tavern through Sunday, Nov. 17.
