James City County is pleased to announce that Publix has opened their new store at 4660 Monticello Avenue in the Monticello Marketplace. This is the first Publix store in Hampton Roads. The store is just over 62,000 square feet. Publix opened at 7 a.m. with a crowd of more than 50 people.“On behalf of the Board of Supervisors, I am so pleased to welcome Publix to our community. We are confident Publix made the right decision to open their first store in Hampton Roads right here in James City County. I appreciate Publix’s commitment to their associates and their desire to be involved as responsible citizens to our community,” stated Ruth Larson, Board of Supervisors Chair. Larson continued, “As a longtime visitor to Florida, I am very familiar with Publix's commitment to top quality customer service offered by their associates.
