James City County is pleased to announce that The Kensington School held a ribbon cutting and grand opening for their second location at Hickory Neck Episcopal Church at 8300 Richmond Road in Toano. The Kensington School is a pre-school and childhood development center. The Kensington School has an existing location at 3435 John Tyler Highway.The new location of The Kensington School will have 12 employees and support 65 children.The Kensington School was founded in 2010 by Rachel Salmon. The Kensington School provides a safe, nurturing and developmentally appropriate environment for infant, toddler and pre-school age children. The Kensington School's focus is to provide a stimulating early care and educational experience, which promotes each child's social, emotional, physical and cognitive development, supporting children’s desire to be life-long learners. The Kensington School’s curriculum is based on guided self-discovery with a strong emphasis on social interaction. Children may attend The Kensington School on a part-time or full-time basis.All teachers at The Kensington School are CPR and First Aid Certified and have passed all background and criminal checks. Teacher to student ratios are based on the needs and attention of each child.
