In honor of America Recycles Day (Nov. 15), the James City Clean County Commission is partnering with Parks & Recreation to host the 3rd Annual Litter & Recycling Expo. The event is scheduled for Saturday Oct. 22 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Warhill Sports Complex Soccer Concessions Shelter, 5700 Warhill Trail. The Expo is free, open to the public and attendees can come and go throughout the event. This year’s Expo will showcase the improved “James City County Parks Recycling Plan” with increased recycling cans and signage located throughout the park. There will many interactive displays and activities for all ages plus giveaways, recycling & litter pickup information, a trivia wheel and more! The Clean County Commission will display information about the new James City County affiliation with Keep America Beautiful and the Virginia State Advocate for Leave No Trace will be available to answer questions and provide information on the Leave No Trace program. Representatives from VPPSA will be on hand to answer questions about the James City County curbside recycling program. Other representatives from James City County Law Enforcement, Citizen Engagement, askHRgreen.org and WJCC Public Schools will be displaying information on their green initiatives and eager to answer any questions. The Clean County Commission organizes a number of reoccurring programs throughout the year including the County-Wide Spring Cleanup, the Good Neighbor Environment Grant, the Quarterly Clean Business Forum, the Adopt-A-Spot program and a variety of environmental education and outreach initiatives.
