JCC fire units were dispatched to a structure fire in the 100 block of Brook Haven Drive on Saturday, September 3 at 8:45 p.m. Williamsburg Fire Department also responded for mutual aid.
Fire crews arrived at 8:50 p.m. to find a two story residence with smoke showing from the second floor. A couch was found to be on fire in an upstairs room.
Five occupants were home when the fire began and evacuated after noticing smoke. No one was injured. Smoke alarms were present in the building but do not appear to have functioned.
The fire was brought under control at 9:09 p.m.
Heavy fire smoke and fire damage was found throughout the second floor, and smoke damage on the first floor. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by JCC Fire Marshals.
