James City County can expect to see strong and sustained gusty winds and 1-3.5” of rain Friday night into late Saturday. The heavier rain is expected in the lower County nearer to Newport News and the least rainfall is expected in the upper County. Tides at Jamestown should reach 5.5’ but less than 6’. The highest tide will be Saturday morning.
Because of the rainfall potential, a flash flood warning has been issued for the Hampton Roads region including James City County. Turn around, don’t drown! Do not walk or drive into standing water. Avoid water in intersections and low lying areas. Be especially cautious when driving at night when it is harder to recognize flood dangers.
Due to sustained gusty winds we may see intermittent power outages.
If your weekend plans involve other areas of Hampton Roads to the south or along the Eastern Shore, please monitor local media and maintain situational awareness as conditions could change.
County officials continue to monitor conditions and are prepared to respond as necessary.
