[ARCHIVED] Fall fun in James City County

FallFun.png

James City County is home to great fall activities!

PumpkinvillePumpkinville is a fun, seasonal treasure in Toano and is operated by a local family farm. Your family can pick their own pumpkins from their patch or choose from our large selection of pre-picked pumpkins in the yard. In addition to pumpkins, there is a large selection of pumpkins, gourds, winter squash, flowers, wooden cut-outs, arts and crafts and fall decorations. Bundles of cornstalks and bales of straw are also available for purchase.

In addition to pumpkins, Pumpkinville offers fun for everyone who enjoy the Halloween holiday season. Decorations fill the fenced-in area to create a festive autumn atmosphere that lasts all of October. There are lots of free activities including a hayride, corn mazes and games. The hayride runs the perimeter of the field.

Fall at Busch GardensWhile you can fill fall nights with fear and fright during Howl-O-Scream at Busch Gardens, during the day Busch Gardens is a great place to see autumn as the foliage turns, but also enjoy some autumn treats such as caramel apples, cider and kettle corn. The park is open each weekend through Oct. 30. The scares don’t start until 6 p.m.

Fall Foliage
There are great places to find fall foliage as it turns from the bright green of summer to the reds, oranges and yellows of the fall.

We suggest Freedom Park, Greensprings Interpretive Trail and York River State Park.

The Colonial Parkway is also a great option for those interested in a fall drive or bike ride.

New Town Williamsburg New Town Williamsburg has the annual Chili N’ Tunes as the weather begins to cool down. This year the event is on Oct. 8.

Make sure to look out our Halloween fun and Thanksgiving posts for specific activities and events.
