James City County Fire units were dispatched to a structure fire in the 100 block of Wilson Circle in James City County at 6:22 a.m. Units arrived at 06:29 a.m. to find smoke showing from the front door and fire venting from the rear of the single story home.
Firefighters encountered high heat conditions in the home and cooled the fire from the exterior before entering to extinguish the fire. The home suffered significant fire and smoke damage throughout. The fire was brought under control at 6:49 a.m. Occupants were home at the time of the fire and evacuated prior to the arrival of the Fire Department.
Fire units remained on scene for several hours removing debris and checking for additional fire damage. One occupant was treated for smoke inhalation and transported to a local hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
