JCC Fire Department was dispatched at 5:48 a.m. to a report of a structure fire at Tropical Smoothie Café in Monticello Marketplace. Williamsburg Fire Department also responded for mutual aid. Crews arrived at 5:54 to find a single story strip mall with heavy smoke showing and moderate heat in the building. Firefighters forced entry through the front and side doors of the business and found fire in the rear of the building. The flames were extinguished and the incident was declared under control at 6:24 a.m. Fans were used to clear smoke from the building and heavy smoke damage was noted. Crews forced entry into neighboring business, Body and Sol Tanning, to check for fire spread. No fire was found but the business did sustain minor smoke damage. Fire crews also forced entry into The Grecian Plate and found no fire spread or damage to the business. All businesses were unoccupied at the time of the incident and no one was injured.
