The Williamsburg Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will hold a wreath laying ceremony and battle presentation on Sunday, June 26 at 10 a.m. to commemorate the valiant Americans who gave their lives in the Battle of Spencer’s Ordinary in 1781.

The ceremonies will be held at Freedom Park, the site of a series of skirmishes that occurred between the units of the British General Lord Cornwallis and the French General Marquis de Lafayette.

Following the wreath laying, University of Nebraska-Kearney graduate student Chris Bonin, will examine the action at Spencer’s Ordinary through detailed drawings and first-hand accounts from the men who fought on both sides of the battle. The presentation will be held in the Interpretive Center.

Freedom Park is located at 5537 Centerville Road. The event is free, all ages welcomed. For more information call Freedom Park at 757-259-4022.
