James City County Police Detectives have made an arrest in connection with the hit-and-run “road rage” incident that occurred on Dec. 4. Brian Lemons, a 51-year-old man local to the New Kent/James City County area, was arrested on the morning of Dec. 7. Police formally charged Lemons with several offenses, including Felony Hit and Run, Reckless Driving, and Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, based on the evidence gathered to date. The investigation remains active, and additional charges may be brought forward as it progresses.

Police are searching for a suspect involved with a hit-and-run “road rage” incident on the morning of Dec. 4. At 6:50 a.m., James City County Police and Fire responded to a call for service of a two-vehicle accident in the 4100 block of Rochambeau Drive. A gray 1995 Nissan, driven by the suspect, engaged in aggressive behavior, intentionally ramming into another vehicle on Interstate 64 multiple times. The victim exited I-64 onto Croaker Road and was pursued by the suspect, who continued to collide with their vehicle, leading to the overturning of the victim's car. The suspect abandoned their vehicle after driving into a ditch and fled on foot toward Croaker Road Park and Ride.
The victim sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The suspect, described as a Black male with a lighter complexion, wearing a red flannel shirt, khaki pants, and a brown hat, remains at large. Initial search efforts by JCCPD, including drone deployment by the Tactical Field Force, and the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit, concluded at approximately 10 a.m.
