[ARCHIVED] Suspect Arrested Following Domestic Shooting

JCCPD an arrest has been made

On Oct. 8, 2023, at approximately 3:00 p.m., the James City County Police Department received a report of a domestic-related shooting in the 1300 block of Queens Crossing, with one victim sustaining multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was reportedly injured by a spouse, who subsequently fled the scene. The suspect, identified as 25-year-old active-duty servicemember Rae’kwan Fulton, drove away from the shooting scene in a white 2015 Toyota Tundra. James City County Police, in collaboration with the Newport News Police Department (NNPD), tracked the suspect as he left the county. Fulton was stopped and detained by NNPD in Newport News at approximately 3:55 p.m. and was promptly extradited to the James City County Law Enforcement Center. The investigation into this incident remains ongoing, and while charges have not been filed at this time, they are expected as the investigation progresses.

Upon arrival, Police and Emergency Medical Service personnel promptly administered life-saving measures for the victim, who was then transported to Riverside Regional Hospital.

The Department extends its gratitude to the Newport News Police Department, the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office, and the Williamsburg Police Department for their invaluable assistance in this matter.
