James City County is under a Tropical Storm Warning and a Storm Surge Warning. What You Can Do Now

  1. Sign up for www.jccalert.org to receive important information from County officials during an emergency.
  2. Take measures to protect your property now. Bring loose, lightweight objects inside that could become projectiles in high winds (e.g., patio furniture, garbage cans) and anchor objects that would be unsafe to bring inside (e.g., propane tanks) tonight before the rain arrives this afternoon.
  3. Make sure drainage ways near homes and businesses are clear of leaves and debris so that nothing impedes the flow of runoff.
  4. Review your plan. Don’t have a plan? It’s not too late. Visit https://www.ready.gov/make-a-plan.
  5. Check your emergency plan and supplies – www.ready.gov/hurricanes.
