Father’s Day is June 19. Why not pick one of these activities and spend some time with your dad?
Back to being a kid
Take dad to a local attraction such as Go-Karts Plus or Busch Gardens Williamsburg where he can settle into having fun and having a good time with his own kids. The Zone at the WISC also has laser tag and a laser maze that may be of interest. If you need something a little slower paced, maybe a couple games of bowling would be right up your dad’s alley.
Burgers and good food
If your dad loves a good burger and a beer, head out to the recently opened Craft 31 on Strawberry Plains Road and treat him to a great meal.
If burgers aren’t your dad’s favorite, try Two Drummers Smokehouse in Toano which is known for its smoked meats and modern southern fare. They won the 2016 Virginia is for Lovers Culinary Challenge.
Golf
We know most dads like golf. James City County is home to nearly a dozen local courses to choose from and area courses present demanding yet rewarding challenges to golfers of all skill levels. Golf is available at Colonial Heritage Golf Club, Ford’s Colony Country Club, Kingsmill Resort, Kiskiack Golf Club, the Tradition Golf Club at Stonehouse and Williamsburg National. Reserve your tee time today!
Outdoor adventure
Why not rent a kayak at the JCC Marina or Chickahominy Riverfront Park and take a paddle with dad? This is a great treat for any dad who loves the water.
If your dad prefers to stay on dry land, make an appointment to test his skills at Go Ape. The challenging tree courses and ziplining is fun for everyone.
Adventurous dads might also like grabbing the fishing rods, lures and licenses to take it back to a more relaxed moment in time where stillness yields great reward.
There are also many other parks for walking or biking in JCC. You could even take dad camping for a night at Chickahominy Riverfront Park.
