[ARCHIVED] Fire Crews Respond to Fatal Fire on Tarleton Bivouac

James City County Fire Department

On July 18, 2023, at approximately 2:37 a.m., James City County Fire Department responded to a report of a residential fire in the 100 block of Tarleton Bivouac. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke conditions with reports of occupants still inside the home.  Three occupants were located and removed by fire crews.

One occupant was flown by helicopter to VCU Medical Center in Richmond and one occupant, that was unresponsive at the scene, was transported to Riverside Doctors Hospital Williamsburg in serious condition. The third occupant of the home was pronounced deceased at the scene. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the James City County Fire Marshal’s Office.

 The York County Department of Fire and Life Safety assisted.
