On June 2 at 6:20 p.m., units from James City County Fire Department and James City-Bruton Volunteer Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire in the 4300 block of Sprucemont in the Colonial Heritage subdivision. Homeowners called 911 reporting a fire in the garage and safely exited the home.  Units arrived at 6:27 p.m. and found significant fire in the garage that had already extended into the roof of the structure. The fire was brought under control at approximately 7:00 p.m., after causing extensive fire damage to the primary unit as well as smoke and water damage to adjacent units. The cause of the fire is under investigation. York County Department of Fire and Life Safety and the Williamsburg Fire Department assisted.
