[ARCHIVED] AARP Tax-Aide Program Prepares for New Season with New Location

Volunteers and JCC Officials Cut the ribbon for Tax Aide's new location at Fire Station 1

You’ve got taxes to file, but do-it-yourself software can be confusing, and some paid tax preparation services cost money you might not be able to spend. AARP Foundation Tax-Aide can help. Beginning Jan. 31 and continuing through April 18, AARP Williamsburg Tax-Aide will once again be providing in-person tax assistance and preparation, and it’s completely free. The program focuses on seniors as well as low-to-moderate income taxpayers.

Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome at two locations:

Williamsburg Library
515 Scotland Street, Williamsburg, VA 23185

Fire Station #1 (NEW LOCATION*)
3135 Forge Road, Toano, VA 23168

*AARP Williamsburg Tax-Aide Volunteers will no longer be at the James City County Library.

Both locations will be open Monday through Friday. Evening hours are being offered on Fridays at Fire Station #1, and Saturday hours are available at the Williamsburg Library. For more details, the phone lines will open Jan. 31.

Tax-Aide is provided in partnership with the IRS, the Williamsburg Regional Library and James City County. AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is the nation’s largest volunteer-run tax assistance program.   Locally, Williamsburg Tax-Aide has been in operation since 1987. If trends continue, the IRS-certified volunteers expect to prepare approximately 3,000 tax returns during this tax season.
