James City County personal property and real estate tax bills have been mailed and are due Monday, Dec. 5. Real estate tax invoices have been mailed to all real estate owners. If an escrow is established for a property, please check the monthly mortgage statement to ensure funds are in escrow.
The Board of Supervisors are sensitive to rising costs and took two actions to provide tax relief:
- Reduced the real estate tax rate from $0.84 to $0.83/per $100 on assessed values; a $1,100,000 saving to taxpayers beginning with bills due in December 2022.
- Adopted an assessment ratio of 75% of the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) values for motor vehicles; a $9,000,000 savings to taxpayers beginning with bills due in June 2022.
If you have not received your tax bill, please call the Treasurer’s Office at 757-253-6705. Taxes are still due even if you did not receive the bill.
