James City County’s newest adventure, a Trackless Train, is coming to a stop near you! Named the Kiwanis Kids Train, the train will be making special appearances in County parks this fall. The train is on track for a fall of fun, all rides are FREE so hop aboard on any of the following days and then stay to enjoy the amenities that these parks have to offer:Saturday, Oct. 8, 2-4 p.m. at Upper County Park180 Leisure Road in ToanoSaturday, Oct. 29, 9 a.m. – noonAbram Frink Jr. Community Center, 8901 Pocahontas Trail (held during the Disability Awareness Trick or Treat event)Saturday, Nov. 12, 2-4 p.m.Freedom Park, 5537 Centerville RoadThe locomotive features four cars – an engine, coal car and two passenger cars as well as door locks, seat belts, lighting, PA system and a smoke system. The train is a partnership between Parks & Recreation and three local branches of the Kiwanis Club – Kiwanis Club of Colonial Capital Williamsburg, the Kiwanis Club of Toano and the Kiwanis Club of Williamsburg. The Kiwanis Clubs applied for and received grants totaling $25,000 to fund this community project that could provide year-round, family friendly entertainment. In the agreement, the County stores, maintains and transports the train to designated County and Kiwanis special events. For your safety:* Maximum of six children or four adults per car (or a combination of)* Each car has a 550-pound capacity* Caboose is wheelchair accessible with a weight limit of 200 pounds*Train does not operate during inclement weather conditions
