James City County is celebrating the weekend with a variety of park events:

Movies Under the Stars, Free!
Friday, May 27, 8:30 p.m.
Chickahominy Riverfront Park, 1350 John Tyler Highway
Enjoy great box office titles out under the stars! Bring lawn chairs, blankets and snacks. All ages welcome. Children 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Movie subject to change. Scheduled Feature: The Tale of Despereaux (G). Weather permitting.

Karaoke in the Park, Free!
Saturday, May 28, 7-9 p.m.
Chickahominy Riverfront Park, 1350 John Tyler Highway
Sing the night away while enjoying the park! All ages welcome. 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Weather permitting.

Opening Day at the Outdoor Pools
Saturday, May 28, noon-6 p.m.
Chickahominy Riverfront Park, 1350 John Tyler Highways
& Upper County Park, 180 Leisure Road
It’s time to kick off summer! Come out to one of James City County’s two outdoor pools and celebrate! Door prizes given each hour between 1-4 p.m. Pools fee apply.

Jamestown Beach Event Park
Meet us at the beachfront for fun in the sun and a spectacular waterfront view of the James River! The park is located at 2205 Jamestown Road and offers concessions, picnicking, grilling, kayaking and wildlife viewing. The park is open daily 8 a.m. to sunset. James City County and Williamsburg residents - reminder a parking decal or proof of residency is now required to park for free. You're encouraged to pick up the decal in advance to avoid the delay of presenting proof of residency at the park entrance. A resident is defined as anyone who physically resides in James City County or the City of Williamsburg and the residence must be a primary residence as reported on income tax forms and used for voter registration. Decals can be picked up at any of the Parks and Recreation payment sites (listed below) by presenting a valid Virginia driver’s license with current street address or a Virginia identification card with current street address, and one of the following that shows street address: lease agreement, utility bill, voter registration card or vehicle registration card. Nonresidents pay a daily parking fee of $4/car on weekdays and $7/car on weekends and holidays. Fees are higher for high occupancy vehicles. The parking fee is in effect Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Concessions are available Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.
