James City County Parks & Recreation seeks your feedback in the planning of a community park in the Grove community. Following a site feasibility study in January, a proposed site for the Grove Community Park was selected. The site is currently wooded with no existing development. The proposed site for the park is located directly on Route 60 in the west end of Grove (view PDF map here).
In October 2017, the Grove Neighborhood Advisory Committee was created to assist in determining the direction for future neighborhood outreach programs. The Committee’s first initiative was to develop and distribute a survey to gauge residents’ needs for programs and facilities. Survey results, staff research and input from residents and local businesses resulted in the 2018 Grove Community Recreation Analysis (Plan). When survey participants were asked to rank the three most important facilities/equipment they would like to see available in the community, the following amenities topped the list: pool, basketball courts, fitness equipment, walking trail, picnic shelters, playground and computer access.
During this portion of the park planning process, we’re seeking input from the Grove community and interested citizens about the park’s creation, its proposed amenities as well as to encourage participation in the process. Proposed features include a leisure pool with spray features, restroom with picnic shelter, playground, paved multiuse trail and parking.
Get involved and share your thoughts on this important park project. Our planning documents are linked here and printed copies are available at the Abram Frink Jr. Community Center, 8901 Pocahontas Trail, Monday-Friday, 4-8 p.m. We’re requesting your input on this project by Thursday, May 12.
