Winter/Spring Activity Brochure Available!
Parks & Recreation invites you to a season of fun – we’ve got a variety of programs, events and activities for all ages, interests and abilities. Over ten special events are planned to reconnect community - and we encourage you to take advantage of the many unique amenities in our two recreation centers and in our parks. New programming includes enhanced art workshops in painting, pottery and sculpture. Great special events include the annual Fitness Open House, a virtual 5K Run, Fido Fest, pool splash nights and summer camps! Check out the Winter/Spring brochure for details on all offerings.

James City County Recreation Center indoor pool
Come in and enjoy family time with us in the pool! Free swim area and an area for our Wibit inflatable obstacle course are available! Games and prizes included. Pick up your event flyer at the James City County Recreation Center. Non-swimmers are required to use a lifejacket, which is provided. Registration required.

It’s a new year and time to reboot your health goals! Aquatic and land instructors will be available to discuss their classes, formats and typical modifications with you in a personal setting. Reserve a spot to participate in mini classes throughout the morning and receive information on all that James City County Health & Wellness has to offer. Call 757-259-4176 for more information. 

2022 Hit the Reset Virtual 5K Run/Walk • All Ages
Saturdays, Jan. 15 – Feb. 26*
$20 until Jan. 31

It’s time to put 2021 in the past and HIT THE RESET! We’re racing into 2022 with positive resolutions - let’s move forward to­gether! Join James City County Parks & Recreation for their second annual virtual 5K! You can complete this virtual 3.1 mile run/walk anywhere, with anyone, at any time. Complete within the dates below and submit online. Race registration includes a commemorative medal and shirt. The County has some of the most beautiful trails in the state of Virginia. If you choose to run your 5K on one of our trails, submit your location photo and every participant will receive an extra entry into our raffle. Come celebrate fall with a good old-fashioned campfire gathering at Chickahominy Riverfront Park! Enjoy s’mores, activities, storytelling and more around the campfire overlooking Gordon Creek.

Jamestown Beach Event Park $5/car (cash or check only)
Don’t miss the PAW-TY! Grab your leash and get to the park with your furry friend for a great time! Socially distanced family and dog-friendly activities, games, contests, fabulous food ($) and more awaits you! Merchandise ($) and community vendors will also be present. Co-sponsor: Heritage Humane Society. 

Camping Under the Stars • All Ages
Saturday, April 9* • 2-5 p.m.

Chickahominy Riverfront Park
Pitch your tent or borrow one of ours and spend the night camping! We’ll show you the basics of camping including how to set up your tent, how to hammock camp, build a campfire, and cook on a campfire. Afterwards, stay the night at our campground (included in the cost of the program)

Summer Camp Fair • All Ages FREE!

Your one-stop shop for families planning summer activities! Find out about local and regional summer camps, programs and more for all ages! Register onsite or gather information to take home. CAP2CAP Bike Ride 2022

The CapCenter Cap2Cap Bike Ride is back for its 17th year! This annual event showcases the Virginia Capital Trail, a 51.7 mile multiuse trail which connects all of Virginia’s capitals – Jamestown, Williamsburg and Richmond. Presented by Dominion Energy, this year’s event will be held May 6-7 with post-ride Party Zones at Chickahominy Riverfront Park in James City County and Dorey Park in Henrico County. All proceeds benefit the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation's (VCTF) mission to protect, promote and enhance the Virginia Capital Trail, and to serve as a resource, community builder, and connector to other Trails throughout the Commonwealth.
