Do you think litter is more than just an eyesore? Wish you could do something about it? James City County General Services is launching a new litter kit loan program! The Litter League helps individuals, families, organizations and businesses perform cleanups in local areas by providing groups with everything needed to perform a cleanup:

  • 5-gallon bucket
  • litter grabbers
  • safety vests
  • gloves
  • trash bags
  • informational binder with a step-by-step guide on how to plan a cleanup, learning materials and a suggested reading list

For a one-time cleanup, Litter League kits are available for check out at the Williamsburg Regional Library at both the James City County and Williamsburg locations. They are available in the Learning to Go collection under “Litter Cleanup Kits” and can be checked out for one week at a time. Each kit comes with a resource binder with suggestions for learning materials to enhance your cleanup project.

For anyone interested in an ongoing monthly litter pickup project, a Litter League Team can be formed and kits may picked up at the General Services Administrative Building, 107 Tewning Road. James City County asks all Litter League participants to report cleanup details after each cleanup event. Data from cleanup reports is used to apply for grants to support the program and other litter cleanup efforts.
