Lieutenant Steve Humphries with the James City County Police Department has been promoted to Major.
Lt. Humphries was previously employed with the Hampton Police Division as a police officer. Lt. Humphries was hired by the James City County Police Department in 1997. Lt. Humphries has served JCCPD as a Police Officer, School Resource Officer, SWAT Team Operator, Patrol Sergeant, Community Services Unit Sergeant, Patrol Shift Commander and is currently serving as the Day Shift Patrol Commander. Over his 24 years of service, he has received several awards and decorations, including the Supervisory Service Award.
Lt. Humphries has a Bachelor’s Degree in Governmental Administration from Christopher Newport University and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Troy University. Additionally, he is an adjunct college professor.
Lt. Humphries will step in to his new role as Major beginning Aug. 1.
