James City County Parks & Recreation has it all - outdoor adventures, arts and pottery, sports, cooking, science and language, camps for youth with disabilities, just to name a few! Full day to half day options all summer long. Camps are listed by week, then age and then camp date. Registration information appears at the end of the camp listing.
Week of August 2
Little Tykes Summer Camp • Ages 3-5
Monday-Thursday through Aug. 12, 1:30-4:30 p.m. $65/week
James City County Recreation Center
A super fun pre-K camp with creative arts and crafts, outdoor play, music and interactive stories! Come join the weekly adventures! Children must be toilet trained.
Days of Discovery Summer Camp • Ages 5-22 with disabilities (must have completed kindergarten)
Monday-Thursday through Aug. 5, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
$75/week
Matoaka Elementary School
Experience FUN, arts and crafts, swimming, outdoor play, gym games and community outings! This exciting summer camp will enhance mobility, socialization and leisure skills. Parents are responsible for their child’s daily pick-up. A typical camper: has a mild to moderate disability; can independently or with verbal cues, feed, bathe and toilet; is able to function successfully within a 1:3 staff to camper ratio; is able to adjust to changes in routine/environment with relative ease; has the ability to effectively communicate needs either verbally or with a communication device. Spanish Camp • Ages 6-11

Let’s explore Central America! Learn about Mexico, Honduras, Costa Rica, Belize and Panama! We’ll discover the geography, people and customs as well as make various crafts from each country! Instructor: Paula Guerra.
Youth Intro to Weights & Functional Training Camp • Ages 12-15
Monday-Thursday, Aug.2-5, 9:30-11:30 a.m., $60

Is your child ready to hit the weight room? Hold on! Let us teach them proper and safe techniques, etiquette of lifting and age appropriate lifts and functional training. Your child will learn to safely strength train, improve their balance and body control as well as proper form. We’ll perform functional lifts with body weight, focus on core strength and muscle toning for a total body workout. Class instructed by a certified personal trainer.

Time Travelers • Ages 8-12
Monday-Friday, Aug.9-13, 9 a.m.-noon, $110

Have you ever wanted to be an Archaeologist like Indiana Jones? Come and learn about the five ancient civilizations from around the world! We’ll learn about Egypt, Mali, Inca, Aztec and Greek civilizations. We’ll map our adventures and discover their unique cultures. Instructor: Paula Guerra.
Multi-Sport Camp • Ages 10-12
Monday-Friday, Aug.9-13, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., $125

Join us for a sampler pack of sports! Over 12 different team and individual sport options for campers to try out including basketball, baseball, soccer floor hockey and more! Camp includes a lunch pizza party on Friday.
Week of August 16
Virginia Legacy Recreational Soccer Camp • Ages 5-12
Full Day: Monday-Friday, Aug. 16-20, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., $190
Lois S. Hornsby Middle School
Revolving around soccer-related games, activities, trainings and competitions, this camp includes instruction on the fundamentals of soccer and is designed to meet the needs of beginner, developmental, recreational and advanced soccer players. All participants receive a Legacy Camp shirt and free soccer ball! Instructor: Virginia Legacy.
Kidz-R-Cookin’ Around the World • Ages 9-12
Monday-Thursday, Aug. 16-19, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., $155

Cooking, music and arts & crafts from around the globe will all come together in this very special hands-on cooking camp. Each day will be a different culinary adventure for campers. Explore culture, food and tradition. Recipes and certificates are included! Please note any food allergies at registration. Instructor: Kidz-R-Cookin’.
Week of August 23
Pinch, Slab, Coil Clay Camp • Ages 4-6
Monday-Friday, Aug. 23-26, 9 a.m.-noon, $100
James City County Recreation Center
It's time for your young artist to roll up their sleeves, make a mess and play with some clay! Campers will use a variety of tools and techniques to make animals, castles, bowls and much more. We’ll work with a variety of different types of clay throughout the camp, including both Model Magic® and air-dry clay. Campers will use their fingers to pinch, assemble a slab, and create coils as they learn the basics of working with clay. Instructor: Kidcreate Studio.
AG Basketball & Speed Training Camp • Ages 6-13
Monday-Friday, Aug. 23-27, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., $190
Location TBA.
We’ll focus on shooting mechanics, one on one defense, scoring, ball handling, passing, mental preparation, fitness, conditioning, speed, agility training and more. A key objective in our academy is to create an intense and fun atmosphere that will enable campers to increase their basketball skills, maximize performance and achieve peak condition. An exciting part of our academy is the implementation of nutritional education, leadership, personal development, mentoring activities in decision-making, leadership, communication skills, self-image and team building with others. Instructor: Athletes Global.
Dessert Camp • Ages 7-13
Monday-Thursday, Aug. 23-26, 1-4 p.m., $115

Come make chocolate treats, cupcakes and other tasty desserts! Items made are perfect for special occasions and entertaining. Please note any food allergies at registration. Bring an apron and a small snack each day. Instructor: The Williamsburg Chocolatier, Inc.
