Park Entrance Near Ferry Closes
In an effort to relieve traffic congestion at the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry entrance on Jamestown Road, the entrance to Jamestown Beach Event Park, 2205 Jamestown Road, near the ferry will close to vehicular traffic effective Friday, April 29. All vehicular traffic to the park must use the entrance that is located across the street from the Jamestown Settlement parking lot. This entrance is marked with a large cream-color park entrance sign and welcome flags to help with identification. Inside the park, signs will direct visitors to drop-off/loading areas and to ADA-accessible and other parking areas. The parking layout has changed, so visitors should carefully read all park signs.
Residents, Avoid the Delay
Beginning Memorial Day weekend, decals or proof of residency will be required to park free of charge. The decals are free for James City County and Williamsburg residents. Nonresidents will pay a daily parking fee of $4/car on weekdays and $7/car on weekends and holidays. Fees are higher for high occupancy vehicles. For special events held at the park, separate parking fees may apply for both residents and nonresidents.
James City County and City of Williamsburg residents are encouraged to pick up their decals in advance to avoid the delay of presenting proof of residency or being charged the daily fee at the park entrance. County and City residents must have the decal displayed on their vehicle when entering the park to avoid the delay or charge. Decals can be picked up at any of the Parks and Recreation payment sites (see below) beginning May 16 and you may pick up a decal for each vehicle registered to a James City County or City of Williamsburg address.
To pick up the free decal, vehicle owners must present a valid Virginia driver’s license and vehicle registration. The beach parking decal is 2” x 2” and must be affixed to the inside windshield, in the blind spot behind the rearview mirror. Though the passes are free to residents, there is a $5 replacement fee. Parking decals are not transferable. The parking fee is in effect Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
Jamestown Beach Event Park is open daily 8 a.m. to sunset. Concessions are available Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. For more information, please call 757-259-5360.
