[ARCHIVED] Planning Commission Working Group and Community Participation Team Meetings Scheduled for March 8

The Planning Commission Working Group (PCWG) will hold a meeting on Monday, March 8 at 4:00 p.m. to continue its work on Engage 2045, the process to update the 2015 Comprehensive Plan entitled Toward 2035: Leading the Way. The meeting will begin with a joint work session for the Planning Team to present a draft summary of responses from Public Engagement Round 3 - Deciding and Affirming. After the joint work session ends, the PCWG will discuss materials related to the Land Use chapter of the Comprehensive Plan and the Future Land Use Map – Land Use Applications.

The meeting will be held electronically pursuant to the Continuity of Government Ordinance adopted by the Board of Supervisors on April 14, 2020 and readopted on September 8, 2020. The meeting will be accessible on public access cable channel TV48 or on the County’s YouTube channel PCWG meeting materials will be available on the PCWG Agendas and Minutes web page,, and CPT meeting materials will be available on the CPT Agendas and Minutes web page later this evening.

Citizen comments may be submitted via U.S. Mail to the Planning Commission Secretary, P.O. Box 8784, Williamsburg, VA 23187; via electronic mail to; or by leaving a message on the Public Comment Hotline at 757-253-6750. Comments must be submitted no later than noon on the day of the meeting. Please provide your name and address for the public record.

The Comprehensive Plan is the County’s master plan for guiding future growth. It is reviewed every five years and is used to evaluate development proposals and guide the decisions of County departments over the next 20 years. As the update process continues, the Community Participation Team (CPT) will provide County citizens and business community with many opportunities to participate in the process, including public meetings, online questionnaires and events.
