As the impacts of COVID-19 continue to be felt, we ask for your patience, flexibility and support. Also note: James City County has waived the 2.95% convenience fee on all credit and debit card transactions through Dec. 30, 2020.

Oil Painting • Ages 16+

Before/After School - REC Connect

Williamsburg/James City County Public School students will be participating in remote learning for the first nine weeks of the upcoming school year. In response, Parks & Recreation REC Connect will offer a full day consolidated program Sept. 8 – Nov. 6, 2020 for grades K-5. The program will be held Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-6 p.m. at the consolidated sites of Laurel Lane, Matoaka and Norge Elementary Schools. Daily programming includes arts & crafts, gym/physical activity, games, outdoor play, healthy snacks and virtual learning time. Space is limited; first come, first served. Check our REC Connect webpage for fees, updates, Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), Parent Orientation and COVID-19 Safety Measures. Please call our team at 757-259-5351 with any questions. Due to low registration numbers, we will not be operating a Middle School Teens On Point (T.O.P) school year program at this time.

Greensprings Interpretive Trail
Join us on the Greensprings Interpretive Trail to discuss the different creeks and waterways that define our area, and the habitats provided for local wildlife. Weather permitting. This program is held on the third Friday of each month to explore the plants and animals that live in James City County parks.

Geocaching 101• All Ages/Families
Weekdays/evenings, through October
$20 minimum, or $5 per person for groups of five or more
Would you or your group like to learn the basics of geocaching? Learn about the world’s largest outdoor treasure hunt in a fun and unique setting. We’ll explore Williamsburg’s best geocache hot spots and learn the basics of how to create your own. Sessions will be available on a first-come, first-served basis and will be available weekdays and evenings through October. Archery 101 • Ages 9-15
Saturday, Oct. 3, noon-1 p.m.
Upper County Park
Designed for beginner to intermediate ability. Learn the safe use and handling of a recurve bow in addition to proper range procedures. Equipment provided or bring your own (instructors will inspect for safety before approval for use during the session). 809040-A

Archery for Adults • Ages 16+
Saturday, Oct. 3, 2-3 p.m.
Upper County Park
In this introduction to use, handling and shooting recurve bows, learn proper technique, tricks and focus on upper body strength. Equipment provided or bring your own (instructors will inspect for safety before approval for use during the session). 809040-B



Virginia Legacy Recreational Soccer Camps: School’s Out Camp • Ages 6-13
Monday-Friday, Sept. 21-25, 1-4 p.m.
Location: TBA
Revolving around soccer-related games, activities, trainings and competitions, this camp includes instruction on the fundamentals of soccer and is designed to meet the needs of beginner, developmental, recreational and advanced soccer players. All participants receive a Legacy Camp shirt! Registration closes Sept. 11! 509780-A

Athlete’s Global Multi-Sport Program • Ages 7-12
Ages 7-9: Tuesday/Thursday, Sept. 15-Oct. 22, 10-11 a.m., 509290-A
Ages 10-12: Tuesday/Thursday, Sept. 15-Oct. 22, 11 a.m.-noon, 509290-B
Location: TBA
This program is designed to introduce young athletes to a variety of different sports such as basketball, soccer, flag football, sports performance training and much more while doing virtual schooling. Athletes will learn the fundamentals and rules for each sport through drills, skill-based games and scrimmages. Participants will get a feel for the flow of each game, and the skills and athleticism typical to that sport giving them information to decide what sport to pursue further. We also give out daily leadership development homework to help develop social, emotional and leadership skills.
