Before/After School - REC Connect
Williamsburg/James City County Public School students will be participating in remote learning for the first nine weeks of the upcoming school year. In response, Parks & Recreation REC Connect will offer a full day consolidated program Sept. 8 – Nov. 6, 2020 for grades K-5. The program will be held Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-6 p.m. at the consolidated sites of Laurel Lane, Matoaka and Norge Elementary Schools. Daily programming includes arts & crafts, gym/physical activity, games, outdoor play, healthy snacks and virtual learning time. Space is limited; first come, first served. Check our REC Connect webpage for fees, updates, Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), Parent Orientation and COVID-19 Safety Measures. Please call our team at 757-259-5351 with any questions. Due to low registration numbers, we will not be operating a Middle School Teens On Point (T.O.P) school year program at this time.

Geocaching 101• All Ages/Families

Would you or your group like to learn the basics of geocaching? Learn about the world’s largest outdoor treasure hunt in a fun and unique setting. We’ll explore Williamsburg’s best geocache hot spots and learn the basics of how to create your own. Sessions will be available on a first-come, first-served basis and will be available weekdays and evenings through October. This program is designed to introduce young athletes to a variety of different sports such as basketball, soccer, flag football, sports performance training and much more while doing virtual schooling. Athletes will learn the fundamentals and rules for each sport through drills, skill-based games and scrimmages. Participants will get a feel for the flow of each game, and the skills and athleticism typical to that sport giving them information to decide what sport to pursue further. We also give out daily leadership development homework to help develop social, emotional and leadership skills.
