Out There with Riverside Outfitters • Ages 8-11

During our three days of adventure and team building, campers will travel to Richmond for whitewater rafting, kayaking, gorilla swinging, stand-up paddle boarding and more, all while taking in a bit of the history the Capital has to offer. Campers are transported daily to Riverside Outfitters for their daily activities. All activities on the river are weather and flood-height dependent and may be subject to change based on paddlecraft availability.

Living in the Past • Ages 8-12

Freedom Park
The settlers at Hot Water, now the home of Freedom Park, didn’t have video games, computers or any of the high tech gadgets of today! So how did they get by? Camp participants will get a feel for 18th and 19th century life in Virginia – making their own food and supplies, and learning about the rich history of Freedom Park. In this half-day adventure camp, we’ll venture from home base on a different local excursion each day. Each day brings a new activity including kayaking, geocaching, biking and hiking, all while learning about the historical and natural history that surrounds the area. DIY Art Adventures • Ages 12-16 NEW!

Athletes Global Basketball Camp • Ages 6-16
Monday-Friday, Aug. 31-Sept. 4, 9 a.m.-noon

This camp will focus on shooting mechanics, one-on-one defense, scoring, ball handling, passing, mental preparation, fitness, conditioning, speed, agility training and much more. Our Cheer and Hip Hop camp focuses on fun cheers and modern hip hop movements with a vivacious urban feel. The hip hop portion of the class will focus on rhythm and musicality, how to "find," count music and dance in with a team. Different styles of hip-hop will be combined with fun choreography. The cheer portion of the class will teach various dance and cheer combinations, basic stunts and fun choreography. Along with these skills, participants will receive daily take home activities that build teamwork, confidence and leadership skills. On the last day we’ll provide a performance to showcase what our participants have learned! 506300-M

Outdoor Events/Adventures

Geocaching 101• All Ages/Families
Would you or your group like to learn the basics of geocaching? Learn about the world’s largest outdoor treasure hunt in a fun and unique setting. We’ll explore Williamsburg’s best geocache hot spots and learn the basics of how to create your own. Program fee will be $20 minimum or $5/person for groups of five or more. Sessions will be available on a first-come, first-served basis and will be available weekdays and evenings through October. Forest Explorer Fridays • All Ages/Families  FREE!

Bats! We’ll explore the meadow and Free Black Settlement, seeking out the resident bat population to learn about their foraging habits and benefits to humans. Weather permitting. This program is held on the third Friday of each month to explore the plants and animals that live in James City County parks.

Stargazing with NASA Skywatcher Club  • Ages 13+  FREE!

Come Stargaze with NASA Skywatcher Astronomy Club! The NASA Skywatcher Astronomy Club will host an observing session to share their knowledge, experience and love of astronomy. Weather permitting.
