[ARCHIVED] Cooling Center Open

The National Weather Service declared an Excessive Heat Warning for the James City County area July 20 until 9 p.m. Need a place to cool off? Citizens and visitors can head to the James City County Recreation Center located at 5301 Longhill Road.

The Recreation Center serves as the County’s designated Cooling Center and provides air conditioning and a place to sit down.

Everyone will have their temperature taken by a touchless thermometer before entry. If your temperature is 100.4 F or higher you may not enter the facility. Patrons are required to wear a face covering for entry and for the duration of stay at the facility.

The Recreation Center is open on July 20 until 9 p.m. With the exception of service animals, pets are not allowed in the Cooling Center. For more information, please call 757-259-4200.
