Yorktown, Va. – Following guidance from the White House, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and state and local public health authorities, Colonial National Historical Park is increasing recreational access. The National Park Service (NPS) is working service wide with federal, state, and local public health authorities to closely monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and using a phased approach to increase access on a park-by-park basis.
Beginning, June 10, Colonial National Historical Park, will be reopening access to the Colonial Parkway for vehicle traffic from Highway 199 (west of Colonial Williamsburg) to Jamestown Island. As services are limited, the NPS urges visitors to continue to practice Leave No Trace principles, including pack-in and pack-out, to keep outdoor spaces safe and healthy.
We will notify the public when we resume full operations and provide updates. Please check our websites at www.nps.gov/jame, www.nps.gov/colo, www.nps.gov/york, and social media channels.
More than 20,000 National Park Service employees care for America’s 419 national parks and work with communities across the nation to help preserve local history and create close-to-home recreational opportunities. Learn more at www.nps.gov.
