Summer Offerings Now Available Online
June 8, 2020

We look forward to welcoming you back to James City County Parks & Recreation and all that we have to offer! Programs are set to resume June 29; however, these are uncertain times with changing circumstances, and we depend on you, our patrons, to follow reopening and social distancing guidance as regularly released by the Governor of Virginia. As we continue to adjust our operational procedures to ensure compliance with the recommendations from the Governor, the Virginia Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, we ask for your patience, flexibility and support with all new registration and operating procedures that will be enacted.

Registration is now open. For the complete list of summer offerings, check out our online edition. This edition details programming through Sept. 30. We’ve got more than 30 camps including REC Connect and Teen full day camps as well as lifeguard training, arts, genealogy, therapeutic and health/wellness classes. Visit us online for course descriptions, dates, cost and registration details. New adventures include Golf Fitness & Flexibility and Pilates Fundamentals classes and DIY Art Adventures, Mad Science experiments and Broadway camps.

Should any course be canceled due to COVID-19 related guidance from the Governor of Virginia, a full refund will be made, with no actions necessary on your part. We’re awaiting guidance regarding the opening of our recreation centers and outdoor pools. The Board of Supervisors has waived the 2.95% convenience fee on all credit and debit card transactions through Aug. 5, 2020.

To enhance and streamline the registration process, we’ll be switching to a new software system in September. For a smooth transition, please register for all camps and classes by Sept. 6. During the transition period, all registration outlets will be down from Sept. 12-22. Look for more information and patron training opportunities beginning Aug. 1.

Customer and staff safety will always be our number one priority. As we continue on the path to full recovery and the complete opening of all programs and facilities, we encourage you to continue to maintain healthy and active lifestyle. Take time to get outdoors – alone or with a few friends. Visit our parks, all are open; however, some park amenities remain closed. For the full list, check out https://jamescitycountyva.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=3978.

Paper copies of the summer offerings list will be available at the James City County Recreation Center, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., scheduled to begin June 15.
