[ARCHIVED] VDOT Project to Widen Route 199 Ramp is Ready to Begin

A project to widen the Route 199 westbound off-ramp onto Richmond Road (U.S. Route 60) in James City County is scheduled to begin the week of Monday, Feb. 29. Initial work will include drainage pipe installation which will require weekday daytime closures of the ramp from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Signs will be in place to alert motorists to the ramp closure and detour.

During the ramp closure, traffic will be detoured as follows:

Westbound traffic: Lightfoot Road (Route 646) to Mooretown Road (Route 603) and back to the westbound on-ramp to Route 199.

Eastbound traffic: Centerville Road (Route 614) to Richmond Road (Route 60) to Lightfoot Road (Route 646).

J.S.G. Corporation based out of Williamsburg, Virginia was awarded the $415,000 construction contract. The project is scheduled for completion in summer 2016.
