James City County will hold a public hearing on May 27, 2020 at 4 p.m. via virtual meeting, to solicit public input on the proposed COVID-19 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Urgent Need application submitted to the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (VDHCD) for Emergency Payment of Rent and Utilities for low- and moderate-income (LMI) residents of the County. Residents of the County are encouraged to participate. The COVID-19 CDBG Emergency Payment of Rent and Utilities application includes short term financial assistance for LMI residents who have lost their job, were furloughed or experienced a significant reduction in hours as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The draft COVID-19 Urgent Need CDBG application will be presented for comment along with information on projected beneficiaries, including the number of low- and moderate-income residents expected to benefit from the proposed project, and plans to minimize displacement. Citizens will also be given the opportunity to comment on the County’s past use of CDBG funds.
