James City County (JCC) has launched new tourism social media pages on both Facebook and Twitter. The new pages will be managed by the Communications Division and will highlight events, attractions and businesses in the County. The pages can be liked and followed by finding Explore James City County on Facebook and @exploreJCCVA on Twitter.
Over the last eight months, JCC has grown its social media presence and this move forward with tourism is a continuation of the growth. Previously, tourism posts have been incorporated into the County’s primary Facebook page.
“I believe the expansion of the County’s social media presence will benefit the vibrant tourism assets of James City County and the increased number of events in the County. We want to encourage visitors and residents to like our new Explore James City County social media pages,” stated Jody Puckett, Director of Communications.
Additionally, JCC is encouraging businesses, residents and visitors to use a new hashtag on social media. The hashtag is #loveJCCVA and is intended to encourage telling the story of JCC.
JCC is home to a large number of attractions in the Greater Williamsburg area including Busch Gardens, Historic Jamestowne, Jamestown Settlement, the Williamsburg Winery, the Williamsburg Premium Outlets and New Town Williamsburg. Additionally, JCC hosts three triathlons: Jamestown Triathlon, REV3 Triathlon and the Patriots Triathlon. The County hosts a number of sports tournaments each year at its facilities and parks.
