[ARCHIVED] Two County-based Architecture Firms Named Best Places to Work in Virginia

On Jan. 31, Virginia Business announced its 2020 Best Places to Work in Virginia and named two County-based architecture firms as recipients: DJG, Inc. (DJG) and GuernseyTingle. The 2020 Best Places to Work in Virginia list is made up of 100 companies. Winners were selected in three categories: small (15-99 U.S. employees), midsize (100-249) and large (250 or more). Companies and their employees were surveyed and benchmarked based on core values, work environment and employee satisfaction. Nearly 200 companies applied for inclusion on the 2020 list.

This is the fifth consecutive time DJG has been named one of the Best Places to Work in Virginia. This year, they ranked 33 out of 55 in the Small Businesses category. This was GuernseyTingle’s first time being named to the list and they ranked 46 out of 55 in the Small Businesses category.

DJG is the only full service, multi-discipline engineering and architecture firm headquartered on the Virginia Peninsula. DJG was founded in 1978 and their project portfolio includes military, state and municipal government, higher education, housing authorities and private sectors. They design fire stations, office renovations, warehouse improvements, roof replacement and HVAC renovations. DJG is a SWaM certified Small Business with Virginia. DJG employs 25 people and is currently hiring several positions.

GuernseyTingle provides full design services including architecture, interiors and planning. GuernseyTingle was founded in 1983 and their portfolio includes government, non-profit and commercial projects as well as custom residential homes. GuernseyTingle has also completed a variety of historic and adaptive reuse projects and themed entertainment projects. They pride themselves as a team of friendly, professional, innovative problem-solvers who are highly responsive to their clients’ needs. GuernseyTingle employs 26 people and is currently hiring a business development director.

This is the tenth year that Virginia Business has compiled the Best Places to Work in Virginia list in cooperation with Pennsylvania-based Best Companies Group.
