[ARCHIVED] Comprehensive Plan Planning Commission Working Group Meeting Scheduled for Feb. 3

PCWG 2014

The Planning Commission Working Group (PCWG) will hold a work session on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 6 p.m. in the Building F Work Session Room at the James City County Government Center to begin its work on updating to the 2015 Comprehensive Plan, Toward 2035: Leading the Way. The PCWG is comprised of all seven members of the Planning Commission and one member of the Community Participation Team (CPT) and is tasked with leading the development of the draft Comprehensive Plan. Over the course of the two-year Comprehensive Plan update process, the PCWG will review community input; work with County staff and consultants to develop the vision, plan and implementation framework; and guide and monitor scenario planning and the modeling process.

The PCWG’s agenda will include a review of the Phase I public engagement summary, an update on the scenario planning and modeling efforts, and a discussion on the efforts to date and moving forward.

The Comprehensive Plan is the County’s master plan for guiding future growth. It is reviewed every five years and is used to evaluate development proposals and guide the decisions of County departments over the next 20 years. As the update process continues, the CPT will provide County citizens and business community with many opportunities to participate in the process, including public meetings, online questionnaires and events.
