[ARCHIVED] 2019 Leaf Disposal Options Announced

Self Haul
James City County residents may drop off leaves free of charge Nov. 11-24, 2019 and Jan. 6-19, 2020 at the Jolly Pond Convenience Center, 1204 Jolly Pond Road. The Convenience Center is open daily from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Leaves will only be accepted in clear bags no larger than lawn or leaf-size (40 gallons or less).

Leaves from commercial lawn service companies will NOT be accepted.

At all other times, leaves may be self-hauled to the Jolly Pond Convenience Center for a fee. Four lawn and leaf-sized bags will cost one payment coupon ($4). Payment coupons are available online or from James City County Recreation Center, Abram Frink Jr. Community Center, Freedom Park, Satellite Services or the Treasurer’s Office. Credit and debit cards are also accepted at the Convenience Center with an additional 2.95% convenience fee.

Brush, grass and tree limbs are not included in the free collection and will require coupons. The appropriate charge for these items will be determined when they are dropped off.

Curbside Collection
James City County will provide one round of curbside leaf collection. Collection dates are as follows and are determined by voting district. The schedule has changed since last year. District information can be found online or by calling General Services at 757-259-4080.

Voting District and Collection Dates
- Berkeley/Roberts Dec. 2-6
- Jamestown/South Powhatan Dec. 6-13
- Stonehouse/North Powhatan Dec. 13-18

Leaves must be in clear bags no larger than lawn or leaf-size (40 gallons or less). Bagged leaves must be left curbside by 8 a.m. on the first day of collection in each district. Each street will be collected one time only. Bulky materials such as brush and tree limbs cannot be accepted.

Leaf Burning and Composting
Burning of leaves is not permitted in James City County, except in certain areas zoned A-1, General Agriculture.
