On August 22 at 6:53 p.m., units from the James City-Bruton Volunteer Fire Department and James City County Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire in the 9000 block of Three Bushel Drive in the Stonehouse subdivision. A neighbor called 911 reporting smoke coming from the front of the house and first arriving units found a fire in the attic space. The fire was brought under control at 7:55 p.m., after causing extensive fire damage to the attic and water damage to the first floor. The homeowners were not home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. York County Department of Fire and Life Safety assisted.
