The James City County Board of Supervisors recently selected six citizens and four members of the Planning Commissioners to serve on the Community Participation Team (CPT). The CPT will help staff with public outreach efforts during the review and update of the County's Comprehensive Plan. The team will meet approximately twice a month to plan and implement ways to engage all members of the community and to encourage citizen input throughout the update process.
Citizen members of the CPT are Rachel Becke, Rebecca Bruhl, Glen Carter, Thomas Hitchens, Philip Piper, and Ginny Wertman.
Planning Commission members of the CPT include Jack Haldeman, Rich Krapf, Julia Leverenz, and Tim O’Connor.
The scheduled CPT meeting dates are as follows:
- Aug. 19 and 26
- Sept. 17 (Building F Work Session Room)
- Oct. 3, 14, and 28
- Nov. 4 and 18
- Dec. 2 and 16
Meetings are open to the public and will begin at 4 p.m. in Building D of the James City County Government Center located at 101 Mounts Bay Rd, unless otherwise specified. Additional meetings will take place in the spring.
The Comprehensive Plan is the County’s master plan for guiding future growth. It is reviewed every five years and is used to evaluate development proposals and guide the decisions of County departments over the next 20 years. As the update process continues, the CPT will provide County citizens and business community with many opportunities to participate in the process, including online submissions, public meetings and events.
