[ARCHIVED] EDA Strategic Investment Area Committee Schedules Meetings

EDA Strategic Investment Area Committee

The Economic Development Authority (EDA) Strategic Investment Area Committee has scheduled two meetings. The meetings will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 21 and Wednesday, Sept. 18. Both meetings will take place in the Economic Development conference room located in Building D at 101 Mounts Bay Road at 4 p.m.

The EDA Strategic Investment Area Committee includes four members of the EDA. The Strategic Investment Area Committee will investigate the viability of creating strategic investment areas in James City County and identify the advantages of such areas being created. The information will be combined and presented to the Board of Supervisors during their joint work session with the EDA in October.

The EDA is a seven-member volunteer board whose members are appointed by the Board of Supervisors and serve staggered four-year terms. The Authority’s function is to pursue and comply with the goals and objectives set forth in the Comprehensive Plan; to advise the Board of Supervisors through the County Administrator of any application made by an agent or representative of a prospective facility requesting the Authority to issue bonds; and to advise the governing body of James City County of the potential location of the facility.
