The Economic Development Authority (EDA) has established a new committee, the Strategic Investment Area Committee. Their first meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 24 at 4 p.m. in the Economic Development conference room located in Building D at 101 Mounts Bay Road.

This new committee includes four members of the EDA. At their meeting, the committee will decide on a meeting calendar that will be posted on the County website. The Strategic Investment Area Committee will investigate the viability of creating strategic investment areas in James City County and identify the advantages of such areas being created. The information will be combined and presented to the Board of Supervisors during their joint work session with the EDA in October.

The EDA is a seven-member volunteer board whose members are appointed by the Board of Supervisors and serve staggered four-year terms. The Authority’s function is to pursue and comply with the goals and objectives set forth in the Comprehensive Plan; to advise the Board of Supervisors through the County Administrator of any application made by an agent or representative of a prospective facility requesting the Authority to issue bonds; and to advise the governing body of James City County of the potential location of the facility.

For more information about the EDA, please visit the Economic Development website.
