James City County is launching the update of its Comprehensive Plan adopted in 2015, Toward 2035: Leading the Way, and invites community leaders to apply to be part of the Community Participation Team (CPT). The CPT plays an important role in providing opportunities for all members of the community to be engaged in updating the plan. Additional details regarding the role and responsibilities of a CPT member can be found in the CPT job description. Interested citizens can apply online at the County Comprehensive Plan website. The deadline to apply is June 18.
The Comprehensive Plan is the County’s master plan for guiding future growth. It is reviewed every five years and is used to evaluate development proposals and guide the decisions of the County over the next 20 years. It covers all aspects of the community, including the environment, housing, community character, transportation and land use. As the update process continues, the CPT will provide County citizens and businesses with many opportunities to participate in the process, including internet submissions, public meetings and JCC TV48 programs.
For more information about the CPT or the Comprehensive Plan review, call the Planning Division at 757-253-6685 and/or watch for updates on the County's website.
